One word describes the skies of Botswana - spectacular. The sunrise and sunsets are especially noticeable during the dry season when dust and smoke from bush fires combine to colour the evening sky. Summer storms, too, can bring contrasts, where clouds threatening rain can produce summer storms which unleash rolling thunder and dramatic lightning in both sheet and forked imagery. BotswanPost has beautifully combined a stamp issue and cover reflecting the "sky moods" of this fascinating country. A call went out to local photographers as well as to some chosen professionals and the results speak for themselves. Each stamp effectively combines a human element to put the natural imagery into perspective and show that Batswana continue life as always on this picturesque landscape.
