Nature has always fascinated mankind since his existence. Rocks, vegetation and water have in some way or the other influenced the way people live. These features also form a major basis of environment on which life in countless ways exists.Since it took a long time for our landscapes to form, some of which are of outstanding natural beauty, it is crucial that such features be protected to ensure that their originality is maintained for posterity. Therefore, it is the duty of the department of Botswana National Museum to ensure that such natural heritage is safeguarded and declared monuments where appropriate. the department is empowered with a legislation that protects national heritage, Monuments and Relics Act 59:03 of 2001.
