The release of Diamond stamp issue pays recognition to Botswana's largest contributor of income - diamonds.Since the first mining production of diamonds began in Botswana in 1971, diamonds have contributed enormously to the country's economic growth, not only in terms of direct foreign exchange and government revenues form diamond sales, but also through the multiplier effect on taxes, employment and infrastructure.
