The community of Artists in
Botswana is very active. The National Art Gallery (which
will celebrate its 40th Anniversary this year) and
other formal and informal bodies encourage a wide variety of
visual Arts, including photography, painting, basketwork,
sculpture and fabric arts. Botswana Stamps have
celebrated these artists with a number of issues, including
Handicrafts (1979), Botswana Baskets (2001), and the kuru
Art Project ('Bushmen Art") issue of 2004.
