Postal Orders can be used to send or to receive money at any of
our Post Offices
countrywide.
Postal Orders are sold in
different denominations, with a maximum denomination of P100. This method of
payments is preferred as it is safer than cash. Postal Orders are a kind of
promissory note, similar to a bank cheque.
You simply purchase
Postal Orders up to the value that you wish to send. On each Postal
Order, the name of the payee or the recipient must be written, after which
is mailed. On receiving the Postal Order(s), the payee or recipient can go to any
Post Office in order to encash or redeem each Postal Order for its face
value.
Postal Orders are
widely used as a form of payment for shopping on the Internet, as they are
drawn on a Post Office Account so a vendor can be certain that they will not
be declared void or referred to drawer, unlike a cheque.
Postal Orders are
gaining popularity as collectors' items, especially among people who collect
bank notes of different countries payable in Botswana and in SADC countries including, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa and Namibia.
